ARTIST'S STATEMENT:
I am an artist who is Illinois raised, California aged and now calls Indianapolis home. Over the last few years, I've leaned hard into music as my main subject matter. It is what inspires me most in this world and it may just be the one true form of magic the world has. Think of the power that music has to inspire, unite and communicate in ways that nothing else can!
I work fairly spontaneously. There is usually little to no plan of what my paintings will look like in the beginning. I start by subconsciously making marks, often times just trying to channel the energy of whatever music I am listening to. Once I get something going, I step back and begin to consciously shape the composition and other elements of the painting. Usually the music helps guide the process of bringing the painting to life while my experience as an artist shifts the image and story to its final completion.
I love to layer line and color. This love started when I began working with pastels many years ago, and I am enjoying the process of converting that style as I shift back to painting as a medium. Those layers represent both the complexity of elements that make up the music as well as the many emotions that fill our daily lives. I enjoy playing with color, using bold bright colors to capture the audience's attention while striving to find interesting color schemes and pairings that pull the viewer further in.
I am fascinated by creating strange imagery; characters, worlds and stories that draw the viewer into their own imagination to interpret what I have created and presented to them. Searching their hearts and minds to find their own meanings within my work.

BIO:
I grew up in the small town of Eureka, IL. I always enjoyed drawing at an early age, and it helped keep me entertained through my school years. My notebooks were always littered with doodles. After High School, i decided to pursue a degree in art and got my BFA in Studio Art from Southern Illinois University. Shortly after my college years, I moved to San Francisco and lived in the Bay Area for 14 years, where i grew as an artist and started a family. We relocated to Indianapolis in the summer of 2019 where I will continue my journey as an artist: chasing my inspirations, investigating the depths of my own mind and creating bold artwork out of it.
